CES 2014: Intel's security rebranding sheds Mcafee name

At CES 2014 ,Brian krzanish the chief executive of Intel corporation announced that McAfee will be rebranded as “Intel Security”

Intel first manifested an interest in McAfee back in August when they declared plans to assume Mcafee for $7.7 bn in cash. while such rebrandings are common practice after takeovers, there is much supposition that the change was spurred by a desire to dissociate the internet security brand’s image from that of its founder John MacAfee.

The terminating of the McAfee brand will begin right away. However, the logo. Which Intel arrogates represents, “their core values of security and protection” will remain.

John McAfee founded McAfee associations in 1987, but has had nothing to do with the company for over 15 years. Recently, his fast paced lifestyle has seen him teetering on the edge of the law.

In April 2012 after a maraud on his house by Belize police, McAfee was arrested for unlicensed drug manufacturing and ownership of an unlicensed weapon. He was released without charge. In December 2012, McAfee fled to Republic of Guatemala after being charged of murdering his neighbor in Belize. McAfee vehemently denies the allegements.
