The Sindh government has announced a Sindh Govt pillion riding ban across the province on the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), according to a recent report by ARY News. This decision was made on Friday to maintain law and order during Chehlum 2024.

A notification issued by the Sindh Home Department highlighted that this pillion riding restriction is necessary to ensure peace and prevent any incidents on this important day, which will be observed on Monday, 26th August. The Sindh government pillion riding ban aims to protect citizens and ensure a peaceful observance of Chehlum in Sindh.

However, the pillion riding ban in Sindh does not apply to everyone. Specific groups such as women, children under 12 years old, senior citizens, people with disabilities, journalists, law enforcement personnel, and private security guards in uniform, as well as employees of essential services, are exempt from this restriction. These groups are still allowed to ride motorbikes with a passenger.

The Sindh Home Department notification clarified that this decision was made following a recommendation from the Sindh Inspector General of Police. Citizens are strongly encouraged to follow these rules and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure that the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) is observed peacefully across the province.
