Pakistani Famous Legendary folk Singer Reshma passed away

LAHORE: A famous pakistani folk singer Reshma, who was suffering from throat cancer for a long time, passed away in Lahore on Sunday morning, geo news reported.

Reshma was in coma condition for a month and was in critical condition. She was born in Bikaner, Rahasthan to Banjara family around 1947. Her Family migrated from India to Pakistan after partition.

She started her career at age of 12 at Shahbaz Qalander’s shrine by television and radio producer, who arrange for her to make a recording of “Laal Meri” on Pakistan radio.

 

Soon she became a star and she works in lot of Pakistani and Indian film industy and named as famous folk singer of Pakistan. She come to screen in 1960 and recorded several songs at home and abroad also. 

 

Some of her famous numbers are “Dama Dam Mast Kalandar”, “Hai O Rabba nahion lagda dil mera”, “Sun charkhe di mithi mithi cook mahiya meinu yaad aunda”, “Wey main chori chori”, “Ankhiyan no rehen de ankhyan de kol kol” and “Lambi Judai”.

 Doctors diagnosed reshma that she is suffering from cancer in 1980.
