According to an update posted on their official Facebook page, the department is enforcing strict adherence to the Punjab Private Educational Institutions (Promotion & Regulations) Ordinance, 1984, specifically Ordinance IV of 1984, Section 12-C.
Key Directive: No Admissions Without Proper Affiliation
All privately managed colleges in Punjab have been instructed not to proceed with admissions for the 2024 academic session unless they have obtained the necessary affiliation from the relevant Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) and Universities. This measure is taken in the best interest of the public and to safeguard the academic future of aspiring students.
The directive is aimed at ensuring that students can confidently rely on the degrees they earn from these institutions following their exams. The Higher Education Commission Punjab has emphasized the importance of this move to protect students from enrolling in colleges that lack the proper affiliations, which could jeopardize the validity of their academic qualifications.
Enforcement and Implementation
To ensure compliance with these instructions, the Higher Education Department Punjab has tasked the Directors of Education (Colleges) with overseeing the implementation of this directive. These directors, who serve as the conveners of the Inspection Committees for the BS Youth Development Program (BSYDP), along with the Deputy Directors (Colleges) who lead the District Inspection Committees, have been charged with ensuring that all private colleges adhere strictly to these guidelines.
