3G/4G license fetches Rs.111 Billion on Wednesday

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecom Authority on Wednesday auctioned four 3G and one 4G licences that fetched Rs111 billion while one licence of 4G remained unsold during the bidding process.

Now government has decided to spectrum auction of remaining 4G licenses with the base price of 21 billion and the  new entrant on account to instaphone  with the base price of Rs.29 billion.

 Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar hoped that we will reach up to Rs161 billion price of Total spectrum auction of 3G/4G licenses. He was addressing with media after completion of bidding process on Wednesday.

The government had budgeted total amount of 120 billion for 3G auction but get Rs.111 billion  out of which 50 percent would be deposited into the kitty before June 30, 2014.

Flanked by Minister of State for IT Anusha Rahman, the PTA Chairman Dr Ismail Shah and the minister of science and technology, Ishaq Dar said the government had fulfilled its promise by auctioning the 3G/4G licenses in Pakistan at a higher price compared to the estimates made by the previous government on this front.

Ishaq Dar said the Supreme Court had given its mind by asking the PTA to remove sacrilegious, pornographic material from internet and then open YouTube in the Pakistan.

The PTA chairman said that it was not possible to remove undesired material once and for all.

All telecom companies accepted the results of bidding system and remarked that it wa a transparent manner.

 A zong representatives after winning 3G/4G licenses   were very excited  and  said that in Pakistan  we would be  establish 3G services in major  cities of Pakistan within next few months.
