Earthquakes hit the New Zealand capital, Wellington on Friday

Two Strong earth quakes of 6.5 and 5.7 magnitudes measured in New Zealand capital Wellington and South Island town of Seddon at 02:31 GMT and afterwards..

Due to Earth quakes hundreds of commuters reportedly stranded and homes damaged.

According to Reuters News agency a person named Chris Birks, the general manager of the Hotel d’Urville in Blenheim, near the quake’s epicenter, told Reuters: “The building just shook and it went on and on and on. There’s a lot of police out here and fire sirens going off. It’s pretty frightening.” 

New Zealand Capital Wellington  EarthquakeWellington mayor Celia Wade-Brown said life was “business as usual” in the capital and people should not be put off coming into the central business district on Saturday. 

Us Geological Survey team said that depth of this earth quake  was about of 10 Km that took place in northern tip of New Zealand’s South Island with magnitude of 6.8 on Richter Scale on Friday.
