PESHAWAR: Senator Azam Khan Hoti claimed on Monday that Awami National Party (ANP) President Senator Asfandyar Wali Khan had made a secret deal with the US for $35mn.
Azam, who himself is a former ANP leader, alleged that party leader Senator Afra siab Khattak played the major role to strike the deal which concerned to the Taliban.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the deal was struck during a visit of Asfandyar wali khan along with party members to the US in 2009, which was set up by former MNA Naseem-ur-Rehman through a US national. As a result of deal, Asfandyar received a payment of dollar 35 million, Azam said.
He said it was a white collar crime having no manifest, but its truthfulness could be checked from Naseem-ur-Rehman and the US citizen, whose identity he did not disclose.
He said an investigating should be held to measure the assets of Asfandyar, which had increased significantly during the last five years. He had built a palace in Dubai and a shopping mall in Malaysia, Azam alleged.
He said the lifestyle of Afra siab Khattak had also changed, who was now using a bullet proof car. His assets should also be tested, he added.
